Our school motto, ‘Kara Dyski,’ is the Cornish translation of ‘Love Learning.’ This reflects our deep pride in our Cornish heritage and embodies our commitment to nurturing a lifelong passion for knowledge in our children. We encourage them to approach every learning opportunity with enthusiasm and curiosity.
Our Values
The academy’s five core values were thoughtfully chosen by our pupils and staff, placing them at the heart of our school culture:
- Aspiration
- Community
- Respect
- Resilience
- Joy
A Rich Learning Experience
At Port Isaac Academy, we deliver a well-rounded education that combines academic excellence with opportunities for personal and social development. Our curriculum is designed to help every child achieve their academic potential and leave school equipped with the skills they need throughout life. We aim to provide an education for a connected world, inspiring creative learning and nurturing aspirations. We prepare our children to live knowledgeably, responsibly, and safely in modern Britain and the wider world.
Strong Community Connections
Our close ties with the local community foster a strong sense of belonging and support. We work closely with St. Peter’s Church and are proud to be part of the vibrant local creative community of artists and musicians. We also benefit from the cultural and educational contributions of Endelienta, enriching the learning experiences of our pupils. Additionally, the Doc Martin Fund supports various initiatives within the school, enhancing opportunities for our children.
The involvement of our families, along with the broader Port Isaac community and surrounding areas, plays a vital role in enriching our school environment. Our active and dedicated Friends of School organises community events throughout the year, further strengthening these connections.
Exceptional Facilities
Recent investment in our school environment has significantly enhanced both our indoor and outdoor learning spaces. Our well-stocked library continues to inspire a love of reading, while new outdoor facilities—including a sand and water garden, an outdoor construction area, and dedicated spaces for environmental education—provide opportunities for play and exploration. Our calm and purposeful classrooms support focused learning, and regular visits to the beach extend learning beyond the classroom, fostering a deeper connection with the natural surroundings.
Our Journey of Improvement
Port Isaac Academy joined the Cornwall Education Learning Trust (CELT) in June 2023 and is on a rapid improvement journey. Positive progress is being made thanks to the shared commitment of our dedicated staff, enthusiastic pupils, and supportive families. We are proud to be part of CELT, where our collective aim is ‘Learning together to help every child achieve more.’ We benefit from collaboration and support across five secondary schools, one junior school, and nine primary schools within the trust.
A Warm, Supportive Environment
Our children are at the heart of our school community. We are a passionate and dedicated team committed to ensuring the health, safety, and emotional well-being of every child. We strive to create a happy, safe environment where every pupil can thrive.
We hope our website gives you an insight into our school family.
