Vision and Values

 Our School Motto

‘Kara Dyski - Love Learning’

Our school motto 'Love Learning' embodies our commitment to nurturing a lifelong love for knowledge in our children.  We encourage them to embrace every learning opportunity with enthusiasm and curiosity.

‘Kara Dyski’ is the Cornish translation of ‘Love Learning’ and reflects a deep pride in our Cornish heritage.

Our School Values

Our values  make our school a wonderful place to learn and grow together.

Our values are not just words on a wall; we are dedicated to creating a school ethos where these values are demonstrated daily and where each child feels valued and supported.  These values are at the heart of our school culture and shape the experiences and education we provide here at Port Isaac CP School.

Our commitment to these values extends beyond the classroom. Together, as a school community, we can help our children grow into compassionate and capable individuals. As parents and carers, you play a significant role in reinforcing these values at home. Your partnership with us is invaluable, and we welcome open communication to ensure that our shared values are consistently upheld.

Aspiration

We dream big and believe in ourselves to achieve our goals.

Think of aspiration as having big dreams and setting goals for yourself. It is like saying, "I want to be really good at something, and I am going to work hard to make it happen." So, when we talk about aspiration, it means you can aim high and believe in yourself.

We inspire our children to dream big and set ambitious goals for themselves. Through hard work and determination, we empower them to reach for their dreams and achieve their full potential.

Community

Our school is a family, we belong, and together we thrive.

Imagine our school as a big family where everyone looks out for each other. Children, staff, parents, visitors… that's what we mean by "community." We all help and care for one another, working together as a team to achieve more. We are proud to belong to Port Isaac Community Primary School.

We believe in the strength of our school community. Together we create a safe, happy and inclusive environment where every individual is valued, respected, and supported. We embrace partnerships with the wider community in order to encourage a sense of togetherness, cooperation, and shared responsibility. This leads to a richer and more fulfilling educational experience for the children of Port Isaac CP School.

 Respect

We show we value and appreciate others.

‘Respect’ means treating everyone with kindness and consideration. It is using good manners and being polite. It is about showing that you value and appreciate others. When you show respect, you show that you care about other people's feelings and thoughts.

Respect is the cornerstone of our interactions. We are all role models for our children and model daily to our children how to treat one another the way they would like to be treated: with kindness, empathy, and understanding. We foster a culture of respect for diverse perspectives and backgrounds in our school community and the wider world.

Resilience

We are motivated to learn; challenges are opportunities to grow.

‘Resilience’ is being strong, brave and not giving up when facing challenges. It is trying your best even when things feel tough. So, when we talk about resilience, it is saying, "I can handle challenges, keep trying and learn from my mistakes because mistakes are part of learning."

We encourage our children to embrace challenges, learn from their mistakes, and persevere through difficulties. Resilience is a key component of their character development and success, helping them bounce back from setbacks, accomplish great things and face the future with confidence.

Joy

We find happiness and a sense of pride in our achievements.

Joy is all about positivity, happiness and having fun while you learn. It is that feeling you get when you are doing something you really love, like: playing games; reading a great book or learning something new. It is experiencing awe and wonder in the world and delighting in everyday moments. We want school to be a place where you find joy in learning and being with friends.

At the core of everything we do is a profound appreciation for the joy of learning. Our aim is to create a positive and happy learning environment where children find happiness in their accomplishments, big and small, fostering a love of lifelong learning.
